Our standard
FreePress Directory targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Accessibility is part of our design system, not an afterthought: the site is built around high-contrast text, a documented color palette that meets contrast requirements, and a reading experience that works without images.

What we have built for
The site is designed to support keyboard navigation, logical heading structure, text alternatives for meaningful images, visible focus states, resizable text without loss of function, and pages that remain readable with styles or scripts disabled. Our article pages are intentionally typographic—content is delivered as real text, not text baked into images.

Ongoing work
Accessibility is reviewed as part of our design and publishing process, and this statement is reviewed on the same cycle as our other policies. Where third-party content—such as images supplied with press releases—falls short of our standards, we work to remediate it at publication.

Known limitations
Some archival content published before our current design system may not meet every criterion above. We remediate archival pages as they are surfaced, and on request.

If you encounter a barrier on this site, email editor@freepressdirectory.com with the page URL and a description of the problem. We prioritize accessibility reports alongside corrections, and we will provide the content in an alternate format where remediation is not immediate.
